"We really like the way you see the world and we want to live with one of your artworks" As said to me at an Open Studio event by some new friends
Kathryn with John Boeze in Chicago, 2006.
A bit of background... I have a degree in advertising and graphic design, and I loved working with clients to develop new ideas. However, in 1994 I had an opportunity to apprentice with John Boesze, a Hungarian artist then in his 80's, who instructed me in the old world art form of stained glass mosaics. I took my marketing skills, blended them with my artist spirit, and began working with architects and designers on commissions.
I still do glass mosaics, but have added mixed media textile paintings to my studio work. Painting on silk or cotton muslin, I can layer colors together or use wax for a batik effect. And some paintings allow me to add stained glass details, giving the artwork a deeper dimension of color.
The gallery below is a collection of many different artworks I've created over the years. Pleasecontact me if you are interested in a commission or to see what pieces I currently have for sale. Archival prints of most images are available on paper or canvas in a wide variety of sizes, and I am happy to provide pricing for whatever idea you may have.
